Your essay topic should not only be of interest to a reader (and your teacher or instructor) but also sufficiently focused to allow you to cover the topic adequately. Getting students over this barrier was one of the reasons I put pen to paper four years ago and produced a book called Write That Essay! At that stage I was a senior academic at Auckland University and a university examiner. If you have not too much knowledge about a specific field then share this topic with your teachers or family members. Keep your focus on the topic and do not beat about the bush. In admission essay writing you need to describe why you are getting admission in the college and why you choose this college slangs and jargons that are no used in our daily life will not necessarily impress the committee.
